Herb - Basil

Easy to grow from seed when the ground warms up.

Indoors, needs sun. Pinch out shoots to help grow bushy.

Outdoors. Prefers semi shade or sun. Do not fertilise as this may affect flavour.   

Herb - Coriander

Best grown from seed in ground or large pots as does not like being transplanted. Only take about 3 weeks to grow ready for use. Sow every three weeks for a continuous supply throughout the summer.

 

Needs plenty or light but not too much water.

Sow seed thinly about 5mm deep in rows 30cms apart and water lightly. Prefer old manured soil not fresh or taste will be bitter. Thin out to 5cms apart.

 

When 8cms high plant out into wet soil. Make sure well watered and apply a liquid feed.
